Dr. Amelia Barron DVM, CVA, CVSMT
Veterinarian
Dr. Amelia Barron’s passion for animals began at an early age. Growing up in Northern Illinois, she spent much of her childhood riding and competitively showing horses. Her experiences in the equestrian world fostered a strong interest in sports medicine and the important relationship between mobility, physical performance, and overall animal health.
Dr. Barron attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences in 2019. During her undergraduate studies, she spent four years working at the university’s dairy farm, gaining valuable hands-on experience in animal husbandry, dairy cattle research, and production medicine.
She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2023, with an emphasis on equine medicine. As she approached graduation, however, Dr. Barron discovered that her true calling was in small animal practice. She recognized that many of the principles she valued in equine sports medicine—including biomechanics, mobility, rehabilitation, and preventive care—were equally important in helping dogs and cats live healthier, more comfortable lives.
Rather than leaving her passion for equine sports medicine behind, Dr. Barron embraced the opportunity to bring that knowledge and perspective into small animal veterinary care. She is particularly passionate about identifying and addressing mobility challenges, managing chronic pain, and helping patients maintain their comfort, independence, and quality of life throughout every stage of life.
To further expand her ability to provide comprehensive care, Dr. Barron earned her certification in Veterinary Acupuncture through Chi University in 2023. She subsequently completed her certification in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT), also known as veterinary chiropractic care, through the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in June 2026.
Dr. Barron has special interests in integrative veterinary medicine, sports medicine, mobility and rehabilitation, pain management, and palliative care. She believes in treating the whole patient, combining the benefits of conventional veterinary medicine with complementary therapies when appropriate. Her goal is to develop individualized treatment plans that improve comfort, restore function, and help each animal enjoy the best possible quality of life.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Barron enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, working with horses, and making memories with family and close friends
